Object to Springvale Mine's ongoing Mine Water pollution

Please make a submission to the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) to enforce treatment for mine water discharged to the Coxs River catchment. Centennial Coal has lodged a proposal to continue for two more years its discharge of mine water from the Springvale Mine to Sawyers Swamp Creek and then the Coxs River -
see Colong Foundation's draft submission.

Please make a submission before midnight Tuesday Feburary 28, 2017.

Further details regarding the proposal for Springvale Mine to continue mine water discharge are on the Department of Planning and Environment's website here

Additional points  you may wish to add to your submission:

The Springvale mine must not be allowed to dump up to 32 ML/day of mine water into the Coxs River which is part of Sydney's drinking water supply.

The Coxs River is not a drain for mine water containing lead, cobalt, chromium III and Mercury. The river must be restored to health, because it flows through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.
