DESCRIPTION
Cretaceous sediments covered by deep sand deposits form the dominant geology of
the Womerangee area. Few surface streams occur in the area. [1]
The area lies near the northern extremity of the South-west Botanical Province
and as a result includes a number of plant species at their northern limit. Tall
sandplain vegetation is common and this contains a high species diversity. [2]
Many animal species approach their northern limit in the area, including the
Mallee-Fowl and Southern Scrub-Robin. [3]
