DESCRIPTION

This area consists largely of an undulating plain of red sand. Tertiary
sediments underlie sandy loam soils. [1]

Vegetation can be assigned to three broad classes: woodland dominated by York
Gum (Eucalyptus loxophleba), tall shrubland of acacia species; and mallee
dominated by Eucalyptus eudesmoides. The area is interesting botanically as it
lies in a transition zone between the South-West and Eremean Botanical Provinces
and consequently includes many species at or near the limit of their
distributions. [2]

There is little information available about the fauna of the area, however it
might be expected to reflect the vegetation in displaying a mix of South-western
and desert species. [3]
