DESCRIPTION

As with much of the south-west of Western Australia, these areas are underlain
by Archaean granite. Undulating hills with sporadic rocky granite outcrops
characterise the region. [1]

The region is located at the boundary of the South-western and Eremean Botanical
Provinces and may be expected to be characterised by a diversity of vegetation
types with a high degree of endemism. [2]

Fauna within the areas includes many birds which are rare in the region,
including Major Mitchell Cockatoos, Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Mallee Fowl and
the Gilbert Whistler. Desert mammals extend into the area. A wide variety of bat
species are also present. [3]
