DESCRIPTION
The area is underlain by sedimentary sediments and basalts of Proterozoic age in
places covered by deep surficial deposits. Major featrues of the area include
Mount Connor which rises to 300 metres above sea level, and the King Edward
River. The coastline in the area is dissected and there area a number of islands
lying close offshore. [1]
Eucalypt woodland is the dominant vegetation in the area. Mangrove communities
occupy low-lying areas east of Vansittart Bay. [2]
While faunal survey information on the area is very limited, the fauna is likely
to be representative of northern Australian assemblages. [3]
