DESCRIPTION

The area is composed of dissected mountain ranges and sandstone ridges and is
similar in character to the Macdonnell Ranges which lie to the north. [1]

The vegetation is simlar to that of the Macdonnell Ranges areas, although Acacia
aneura and Acacia macdonnellensis shrubland is more extensive. [2]

The fauna is similar to the Macdonnell Ranges. [3]

FERAL ANIMALS
Like the Macdonnell Ranges areas, the James Ranges area has sufferred from the
impact of feral animals. [4]

GRAZING
The lower parts of the range have been used for light grazing. [5]

MINING
The area overlies an old sedimentary basin which contains oil and natural gas.
Some exploration activities have taken place. [6]
