DESCRIPTION

The Kulkyne area includes extensive floodplain areas below low ridges. A few low
ranges occur to the south. [1]

Kulkyne and Cuttaburra Creeks and the Paroo River are outflow streams from the
extensive stream system of the Channel Country of Central Queensland. [2]

Woodland of Yapunyah (Eucalyuptus ochrophloia) occurs along the watercourses.
Areas of Canegrass (Eragnostis australasica) may be found in low lying sections.
The ridge country is dominated by various woodland communities notably mulga
(Acacia aneura), Bimble Box (Eucalyptus populnea) and Belah (Casuarina cristata)
- Rosewood (Heterodendron oleifolium). [3]

The wetland areas of the floodplain channels support high populations of
waterbirds. Red and Eastern Graey Kangaroos are also common due to the plentiful
supplies of water. [4]
