High Impact Coal Mining - Little water, plenty gas

 Following mining, flammable gas
 bubbled through the few
 remaining pools on the
 Cataract River.

To fill cracks on the bed of
 the Cataract River 40 pallet
 loads of polluting cement
 were used.

Despite legal action by local residents and extensive media coverage of the damage to  the Cataract River (downstream of the dams), the Department of Mineral Resources allowed the mining to continue.
